Genetically engineered insects
Researchers have been experimenting with genetically modifying a variety of insects, including mosquitoes, fruit flies, moths and bollworms.
Experimental releases of Oxitec's GM mosquitoes in the Florida Keys have been delayed due to difficulties in deciding how the trials will be regulated.
